Training
Why the construction industry?
Training
The fastest route to employment
The sector offers a wide range of training opportunities. Specialisation and training are key to building a professional career.
There are two pathways to employment: Training for Employment Training for Employment and Academic Qualifications.
Training for employment
This route provides training that enables people to find work. There are two alternatives: a specialisation course or a training module. Both options will enable you to find a job and are shorter in duration.
Specialisation courses
Although they do not offer official accreditation as such, they will however enable you to carry out specific tasks that are of great value to companies. Depending on your choice and the needs of the labour market, this can be a good option if you want to find a job quickly.
Training modules
By completing and passing a series of training modules, you can obtain a Certificate of Professionalism in a trade, which is an official and recognised work accreditation that qualifies you as a specialist in a particular field.
Academic qualifications
The most comprehensive training option, a Vocational Training Cycle will provide you with specialist training in a specific area of construction.
The courses last two years and, as stipulated in the new Vocational Training Act, consist of what is known in Spain as “dual training”, which means that as well as attending classes, you will also receive practical training in a company while earning a salary.
Vocational Training not only teaches you a trade, but also provides you with transversal skills such as communication and team management. You will be able to take on tasks and carry out more responsible and higher-level jobs, such as occupational risk prevention specialist, etc.
Such training courses also allow foreigners to start the process of regularising their status by applying for “arraigo por formación” (settlement through training). More information for migrants.
